Because the farm's $125 driver rate is before tax: Hawaii sales tax is added at checkout, and $125 plus tax comes to the same $131 Viator shows.
In other words, there is no hidden mark-up on this ride. The real differences between booking on Viator and direct are the rules: Viator cancels free up to 24 hours before, while the farm asks for 48 hours' notice, charges no-shows in full and adds a $40 per-person fee to rebook. Booking direct also lets you buy a $75 passenger seat, which Viator does not sell.
Do children pay less?
Not on the ATV rides: children pay the same as adults on the oceanfront ride and at Coral Crater; Kualoa Ranch is the one that discounts children.
On Viator the oceanfront ride is sold to drivers only, and riders aged 10 to 15 pay the full rate. Coral Crater says children and passengers are the same price as adult drivers. What is included, and what costs extra?
The ride, the vehicle and safety gear are included everywhere; hotel pickup, photos and some gear rentals are usually extra.
- Oceanfront ride: your own ATV, helmet, eye protection, the animal stop and a native plant to plant. Extra: rubber boot rental and the photo package. No pickup.
- Coral Crater: goggles, entrance, safety briefing and parking. Extra: gaiter masks, lockers, GoPro rental, photos. Pickup only on the shuttle versions.
- Kualoa Ranch UTV: the UTV and a helmet. Extra: food, drinks and gratuities. No pickup.
Is the Waikiki shuttle worth paying for?
Only if you have no car: the shuttle version of the Coral Crater ride costs $198, about $43 more than driving yourself to Kapolei.
The shuttle ride has a 10:00 AM start, and the listing mentions about an hour of free time at the park on top of the 50-minute ride. You must contact the operator at least 24 hours ahead to confirm your pickup point, or the booking becomes non-refundable. The oceanfront farm ride has no shuttle at all, so it only works if you can drive to the North Shore.

Per minute behind the wheel, the oceanfront ride comes out ahead: every rider drives for most of the slot, while at Kualoa Ranch only licensed adults aged 21 or over drive and Coral Crater's two riders share one vehicle and swap halfway.
The farm quotes about 45 minutes of riding in its one-hour slot. Kualoa Ranch's tour lasts two hours, but nobody under 21 takes the wheel and the rest of the group rides along. At Coral Crater each rider drives roughly half of the 50 minutes, in exchange for a more technical course.
What about cancellation?
Check this before you pay: Kualoa Ranch's UTV and movie tours are non-refundable and cannot be changed, while the oceanfront ride and Coral Crater cancel free up to 24 hours before.
A free-cancellation ticket lets you book early and still change your mind once the forecast is in. Booked direct, Kualoa Ranch refunds in full if you call at least 48 hours before the tour, says the ranch's FAQ. The Climb Works zipline needs 2 days' notice.
